Here’s What You Can Do:
- Pray for our community and those directly affected by COVID-19.
- Pray for essential workers, health care workers that are treating the sick and those public health administrators making difficult decisions. Pray that God would protect our community from further spread of the virus.
- Reflect Jesus. In these anxious days, the church (all of us) can shine as a light of hope, care, faith, patience and prudence. We can demonstrate for the world how our faith provides true assurance against worry and fear.
- Practice recommended personal hygiene. Wash your hands frequently. Avoid contact with the sick. Stay home and practice responsible social distancing.
Here are ways we’ve been able to help:
- We are helping families with groceries through our partnership with Woodland Elementary. Woodland has the highest population of students that participate in the state free lunch program.
- We have been able to partner with “Pause for Parents” (An organization that provides respite and special services for families with special needs children). PAUSE will provide resources for special needs families that have lost access to government services because of the shutdown.
- We have provided help to the Christian Family Center, a small food pantry in Hamilton led by Center Pointe member Glenn Snyder. (A lot of food pantries had to shut down but they were able to stay open). They needed help with increased demand because the other pantries have shut down.
- We’ve been able to assist with funds for Family Promise. These funds help them take care of families that would normally be housed by local churches. Family Promise has also been offering assistance to families that have recently graduated from their program.
- We have provided food and financial resources for families that normally attend Celebrate Recovery here at Center Pointe. Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-based, 12-step program. Participants have found themselves in need because of the economic impact of the shutdown.
- We are excited about a new friendship with Fringe Church in downtown Hamilton. This is a story that’s still developing. Visit thefringecoffeehouse.com for more information about this organization.
- We are donating unused NextGen Easter resources to Shantelle Oyako at Woodland Elementary. Shantelle is the leader of the Get to School Club. Through her connection to the neighborhoods near the school we will provide over 200 kids with Easter bags that include activities, games, candy and information about how to watch our Easter Services online!
