Christianity rises or falls on the identity of Jesus…who He was and what He did. As this new faith was taking root in the first century, false teachers were trying to discredit the deity and authority of Jesus in order to convince new believers that the gospel wasn’t true. Under house arrest awaiting his trial in Rome, Paul wrote the letter to the Colossian church to address this false teaching. Colossians gives us the single most concentrated teaching on the theology of Christ in the New Testament, reassuring us that Jesus is supreme and sufficient for our salvation. This timeless letter continues to offer hope and encouragement for our new life in Christ. No matter what challenges we face in our world, we are grounded in the gospel.
